This is the first release in an ongoing series of barrel aged coffees, and we’re starting out with a bang! The base coffee is a fruity and funky natural processed Ethiopia Yirgacheffe that we then aged in a Westland Distillery Whiskey barrel that had previously held Port. Westland’s 5-malt whiskey is balanced, smooth, and nuanced, so our goal was to utilize the barrel aging process to compliment the existing origin character of the coffee. The coffee was aged for 5 weeks, and the result is a complex cup with bold aromas of cherry wood and chocolate, and a flavor profile that highlights notes of banana, vanilla, and clove. This is truly a one of a kind coffee, and we’re extremely proud of the results, so grab a bag while you can!
